Normally, when you want to reduce a certain amount of light from hitting the camera sensor, you affix an appropriate ND filter to the gimbal. However, lighting can change throughout the day, forcing frequent filter changes. These two variable ND filters let you leave one on and simply dial in your light reduction. One filter can reduce light by 1 to 5 stops while the other by 6 to 9 stops. This is equivalent to a set of ND2 to ND512 filters.
